What’s Roger Federer’s Story?

April 2, 2010 by Ryan Krane · 2 Comments

Roger Federer may be the greatest tennis player we have ever seen, but why has he struggled in the last two Master Series tournaments? Coming off of his victory in Australia and winning his 16th major title, he arrived for the first two Masters Series and lost early in both of them. It’s seems odd that as great of a player as he is, that he loses in these smaller events.
It goes without saying how consistent he is in the majors making it to 23 consecutive Grand Slam semi-finals and winning 16 majors in a span of 27 majors from ’03 – ’10. He seldom loses to these players in the majors and has the ability to turn it on when it counts.
But why doesn’t he do this at the smaller tennis tournaments?

We can only assume why this is the case, but his uncanny ability to shine in the most pressure packed moments is what separates him from his competition. We will have to wait and see how he recovers at the French Open. Until then, let’s sit and watch this great champion!
